integrating Rhinoceros and AutoCAD
The Museum SAN bus shelter is located in Wonju, in rural area of South Korea. The area is also famous as a place with a large temperature difference throughout the year. Which implies that the visitors of the museum may have to wait a long time for a bus to come in either heat or cold depending on the season of their visit.
The bus shelter is designed to adapt in the to outside providing suitable temperature for the visitors to stay in. The design concept derives from the mountain surrounding the museum. The triagular shape as a geometric figure represents the surroundings, and the shelters are made of two parts that can be attached or detached based on the temperature outdoor.
In the winter season, the parts are attached to form one single closed space and visitors can fire a small fire place indoor to wait for a bus in a comfortable warm temperature.
In the Summer season, the parts can be detached to enjoy nice breeze and the view of the beautiful surroundings through the open space.
Museum SAN is a well known masterpiece of Ando Tadao.
To align such emotion the architecture gives, the material choices for the Bus shelter is correlated.
The choices are made to use achromatic and non-flammable meterials to minimize the risk of fire, at the same time to maintain the design language.
